Dreaming of tomorrow

Life is a funny old thing, there are more ups and downs than a trio of sluts on that rich so n so.. before I continue I shall say, yes this is a post about a fella and will most probably end up all soppy..

I met a guy - he was amazing, I lost him because of circumstances out of our control. Why is it that once those rose-tinted glasses are of you realise everything you had, you realise how very much you've fallen for that one person. Somehow my perspective of life is so clear yet at the same time so muddled. I've never fallen so hard and I've never found anyone who made me think of as being "the one" .. until now. He is a great balance to me - tall and humoured, compared to my tiny and over-thinky self (I could list a million more here but I shan't bore you). I don't know what the future holds for me, but one thing I do know is that he is my Prince Charming and I hope that I someday I get my fairytale.

Richard Durand - L.A. ROCK

@Blackholerec@Richard_Durand - Magik Muzik 1043-0

After shaking up the planet with his previous two singles "Radical" and 'Trancematic", Richard Durand administers another adrenaline shot with his brand new, rapid-firing single "L.A. ROCK".

Richard's endeavors of last year's “Vs. The World” project must have given the DJ/producer an enormous amount of inspiration, given the pace in which he currently drops hit after hit. Preparing himself for another super busy year, the man has slated plenty of new singles and remixes and a quick look at his upcoming tour schedule already shows that Richard isn't going to slow things down anytime soon. Many have said that the cuts "Radical" and "Trancematic" represent a peek into Durand's developing sound, with more tech, more synth and an incredible amount of variety in his arrangements; from intro to break to outro. With the new "L.A. ROCK" Richard once again delivers.

Packed against hot, swirling synth and string riffs, "L.A.ROCK" unleashes a subtly distorted tech trance production onto the dance floor. Stacking 3/4 percussion on top of a ferociously banging 4/4 bass kick, Richard generates an urging uplift culminating into a euphoric break. "L.A. ROCK" -literally- rocks. With capital letters.

Jason van Wyk & JPL with Cat Martin - Every Mile Away

Blackholerec - Songbird 336-0

Jason van Wyk's new collaboration with JPL and Cat Martin "Every Mile Away" is now available as a full release on Songbird, including remixes by JPL and the Pierre "P.H.A.T.T." Pienaar.

Cape Town based Jason van Wyk became a house hold name to EDM in the last decade. He sky rocketed with his forward thinking and a creative approach to music. Jason played alongside Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Paul Oakenfold, Sander van Doorn and many, many more. Remix assignments came from artists such as Grammy award nominee BT and Kirsty Hawkshaw and so far Jason made name with “Far From Me” and his single “Always”. “Once Again” got featured on Cosmic Gate’s 4th volume of their “Back2Back” CD series. “September Rain” later on appeared on volume 8 of “In Search Of Sunrise”. His most recent release "WInter" did very well and last year Jason released the single "Safe" in collaboration with JPL and Cat Martin; meeting up with them again for the new "Every Mile Away".

JPL is the alter ego of the Swedish DJ/producer Joni Ljungqvist, who went from strength to strength at a very young age. Reaping 5/5 reviews in British magazine DJ Mag he landed three tracks on Tiësto’s popular “In Search of Sunrise” series (volumes 4, 5 and 7), receives continuous support from the known DJs and runs his own radio show proving that he has accomplished quite a lot already.

Cat Martin is a professional songwriter and vocalist. Drawing influences from Imogen Heap, Tori Amos and Jewel, she began her musical career as a singer-songwriter playing extensively throughout the Northern Irish acoustic scene. In January 2009 Cat released her debut on Armin van Buuren's Armada Music label. The track - Dave Graham ft. Cat Martin - "Love Always Fades" received support from all corners of the globe, was nominated Tune of the Week by Armada and has appeared in over 15 compilation albums to date.

Jason van Wyk's "Every Mile Away" offers a magnificent soundscape in the Balearic tradition with gentle synths and the calming, moody vocals by Cat Martin while the beats hold sway. Pierre Pienaar -a.k.a. P.H.A.T.T., Melodia, ReBirth, JXS Project and Deep Sequence- took care of the remix and pushed the BPM up a notch for a slightly rougher trance version. Add to that the outstanding JPL Remix and every DJ knows right away that "Every Mile Away" is destined to rule the festivals this season.

Bobina - Basque The Dog

@blackholerec / @bobina - Magik Muzik 1045-0

Russian deck practitioner Bobina pulls out all the stops with the new big room influenced anthem "Basque The Dog".

Carving his reputation in rock after Tiësto personally asked him feature as support act on his "In Concert" tour, Bobina began his career in 2003. Still the first Russian DJ to appear in the DJ Mag Top 100 chart ever, Bobina has subsequently remixed artists such as The Thrillseekers Supermode (Axwell & Steve Angello), Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold. He also added the assignment of the 17th volume of the famous In Trance We Trust mix compilation series to his discography. After the success of "Quattro 372", Bobina released "The Space Track" and “You Belong To Me”, a production made with Betsie Larkin. “No Substitute For You” was their second collaboration; Bobina last project with singer Mariske Hekkenberg was "SlowMMXIII".

For "Basque The Dog", Bobina brings forth a cinematically influenced arrangement that sparkles when the break sets in. Perfect for a powerful movie scene, "Basque The Dog" stays well within the setup of a banging tech trancer with maximal house elements; at the same time confirming the evolving character of Bobina's new output - making this new single not only a frontier pushing release but also a dance floor sure shot.

Hardwell ft Amba Shepherd - Apollo

@hardwell & @AmbaShepherd - iTunes Link. Essential Hardwell records don't come much bigger than his groundbreaking hit - 'Apollo' featuring Amba Shepherd. After claiming the #1 position in both the DMC's buzz chart and Beatport chart in the first week of its release, 'Apollo' continues to sweep global dancefloors with just as much euphorically charged energy as ever.

Now, during Miami 2013, Dutch big room juggernaut Hardwell and Revealed Recordings are unveiling the official remix package for 'Apollo', along with the music video for the Original mix.

The result of the hotly anticipated video is a cinematic theme that puts the viewer in the home of a young boy with a passion for science fiction and space exploration. Underpinned by the ethereal vocals of Amba Shephed the video builds with emotive intensity as we watch the boy leave his fracture domestic life behind him and head for the tranquillity of the desert. Here he experiences a sense of happiness and freedom at the world around him, whilst the opaque electro bassline and charging synth lead drops, before he is unexpectedly beamed into orbit.

Fred Baker - A New Life On Earth

@blackholerec / @TiestoMagik - Magik Muzik 1034-0

Fred Baker presents his new single “A New Life On Earth” on the Magik Muzik imprint.

It all started for Fred baker in a big way when he produced the 1996 Ibiza classic trance anthem “Mystery Land” as Y-Traxx and then produced the legendary 1997 club anthem "Eisbaer" as Groovezone on Positiva Records. In the same year Fred Baker produced the huge trance monster "Dream Mission” as Global Trance Mission, with massive support from Judge Jules, Graham Gold, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiësto, M.I.K.E. and Ferry Corsten. In 2005 Fred remixed Tiësto's "Adagio For Strings", later on followed with the Sensation anthem "Forever Friends". Fred owns his own record label Baker Street Records and still releases his output on imprints like Perfecto, Spinnin', Nebula and of course on Black Hole and its sub labels. Fred's previous single on the Magik Muzik imprint was "Turn Up The Bass", now properly followed up with "A New Life On Earth".

"A New Life On Earth" is a real big room monster track. With all the ruling outdoor festivals on our doorstep, every DJ can bet his money on it that is going to be the climax track of choice. Fueled by cathedral sized synth stabs, Fred Baker's arrangement brings the drums to the forefront to shake dance floors with Richter's scale magnitude!

Damn You Mongolians - Before The Storm EP: Part 2 After The Storm

@Rub_A_Duck / @BlackHoleRec - Rub A Duck 045

Damn You Mongolians presents his second EP in his two-volume “Before The Storm” series, this time “Part 2: After The Storm”, featuring the tracks “Lights Out”, “Prague” and a remix of “Before The Storm”, along with instrumental versions.

Hailing from the North East of the UK, Steve Southern a.k.a. Damn You Mongolians has always shown an immense passion for music of all genres. Inspired by icons of electronic music such as BT and Hybrid, along with the classic European trance sound of the late 90s, Steve released his music under various monikers before the Damn You Mongolians (DYM) project was born in early 2010 amidst the rise of UK dubstep and bass music. The first fruits of which would eventually lead to an official release of his highly acclaimed remix of BT’s "Every Other Way" on Black Hole Recordings. Official releases from dubstep star MRK1, blog darling Queen of Hearts and Canadian electro-duo The Dirty Tees followed - not to mention his now infamous remix of Adele’s "Rolling in the Deep" which racked up in excess of 1.7 million online views. His own cuts like "Leave You Behind", "Untrue" and "Fire" all defined the DYM sound outside of the average dubstep club track, as his sound grew more distinct - blending elements of dubstep, trance, drum and bass, ambient and songwriting. In April 2012 he released his debut Rub-a-Duck single ‘Footprints’ along with rising star Katie’s Ambition (fresh from collaborations with Filthzilla, Torqux, Baratone and Dexcell) His approach for this new set of tracks was to continue collaborating with new and exciting vocal talent, to create original songs that would reward repeat listens long after the club sound systems have powered down.

Bristol’s 19-year-old singer-songwriter Natalie Holmes has grown her fan base from square one over the past 3 years. Since moving to Leeds in 2011 to study at Leeds College of Music, Natalie has been gigging wherever and whenever she can, taking her Internet following and expanding it in the real world. She’s also been busy attracting the attention of the likes of Perez Hilton, who in featuring her original song "Safety Net" on his blog, said, “She’s a real artist!”, and BBC Introducing West Yorkshire’s Alan Raw, who played a track from her self produced album "Goodmorning Sleepyhead". Influenced by artists such as Ellie Goulding, Ingrid Michaelson, Bon Iver and Gabrielle Aplin, Natalie started writing songs from a young age and nowadays works hard make it big.

The closing round of this two-part EP series features the tracks “Lights Out” and “Prague”, while bringing the set full circle with a bonus ‘Aftermath’ remix of EP lead track “Before The Storm” from the man himself - giving the original dubstep track a shimmering high tempo workout. Hammering the dance floors with highly reactive drum ‘n’ bass, Steve leaves no holds barred and once again showcases his one of a kind synth and string arrangements. Hearing “Before The Storm” in a drum ‘n’ bass rendition should give every DJ the perfect tools to create a superb, bouncing live set. Whether it’s before or after the storm, DJs simply can’t do without this new Damn You Mongolians EP set.

Johan Gielen vs Virtual Vault - Intensive

@blackholerec - Black Hole 535-0

Johan Gielen and Virtual Vault present their brand new collaboration “Intensive” on the Black Hole imprint.

DJ/producer Johan Gielen boasts a career of 20 years and is still the man behind anthems like “The Beauty of Silence” and “Twisted”, produced with Svenson. Solo he released his debut album "Revelations", recorded a “Private Party” mix compilation, delivered two volumes of "In Trance We Trust" and three, season themed "Global Sessions". Johan's Airscape project became the name behind such anthems as "Pacific Melody", "L'Esperanza" and "Cruising" and recently, Johan released the new Airscape single "Endless Forever". Now joining forces with Virtual Vault, he once again baffles the competition with "Intensive".

For Virtual Vault it all began with his single "Request". The smash reaped support all over the world from the top DJs like Tiësto, Ferry Corsten and Armin van Buuren; immediately setting the standard for future ‘old skool’ and downright euphoric big room releases. The follow ups to his debut, “Experience” and “Definition” are still played all over the world, as is the case with his other singles "Boundary", "Causeway Bay" and "Default". His latest maximal house single "Smash" saw a massive follow up with his collaboration "I Feel You", conceived with Daniel Wanrooy.

“Intensive” brings together the best of both producers. A thrilling combination of the trademark Johan Gielen trance sound with Virtual Vault’s hard hitting big room elements makes this the perfect track for the big crowds. With an addictive theme and a deep break, it’s indeed an “Intensive” floor filler. The Dark Mix approaches the original from a harder angle, excellent for the late night underground sessions.

Purple Stories - Surface Tension EP

@blackholerec - In Trance We Trust 586-0

Purple Stories present their debut for the In Trance We Trust imprint, titled the “Surface Tension EP”.

The polish producer duo Purple Stories made quite an impression in a short bit of time. After their first releases "Close Your Eyes" and "Ithilien" for the Saturate Audio imprint, they were quickly spotted by the big names: the singles "Tramontando", "Cookie Monster" and "Still Drunk" appeared on Ferry Corsten's Flashover Recordings while Armin van Buuren's Armada label featured Purple Stories for the singles “Vinicity" and "Wake Up" by York. Markus Schulz even said: "I'm expecting big things from Purple Stories in 2013, they're on fire." This time it was Black Hole Recordings that secured the guys for a release on the In Trance We Trust sublabel.

With “Surface Tension” and “Mente Dualistica”, Purple Stories seem to bring a true homage to the early, packed to the rim trance events. Or to put it in other words: this is what trance really is. Both tracks stand out with elaborate and lush synth arrangements that bring forth a big, symphonic sound. The spun out breaks with smooth, padded strings transcend into climaxing breaks; superb material for a multiple hour live DJ set.

Steve Kaetzel ft Brianna Holan - Darling

@BlackHoleRec - Songbird 335-0

Steve Kaetzel presents his brand new single "Darling" on the Songbird imprint, featuring the vocals of Brianna Holan.

Steve Kaetzel began his career as a composer and sound designer for video games and short films. After his first taste of electronic dance music he went westward to Seattle to pursue this new-found love. It was Black Hole Recordings who signed Steve to the Songbird imprint, where he released an EP with the titles "Black Opal" and "Something About This". His second EP, a collaboration with vocalist Brianna Holan entitled "So Alone," received airplay on Markus Schulz's Coldharbour Day, Roger Shah's Magic Island, and Anjunabeats Worldwide. His remixes for such artists as Moonbeam and Zoo Brazil got the support from Tiësto and Sander van Doorn. Steve's previous releases "Floe" and "Aurora" now, saw a brand new 2013 follow up with the single "Winter". Now teaming up again with the lovely Brianna Holan, Steve drops the sparkling "Darling".

“Darling” is once again a trademark Steve Kaetzel production, bringing forth the most attractive properties of vocal trance. An atmospheric arrangement that blends with Brianna Holan’s effected vocals works towards an airy break with Balearic elements, ready for a sunstroke afternoon pool party.

Solarstone - Please

@blackholerec - Black Hole 542-0

Collectively, "The Spell", "Pure", "Fireisland", "Falcons" and "Jewel" have sonically outlined and defined his pure trance perspective - ushering in a new age of Solarstone in the process. Inspired by the dying moments of The Smiths "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want", Richard Mowatt is ready to dispatch another #puretrance communiqué to the floor. Please welcome, "Please".

From its spoken “pure unbounded joy” start-point, the vocal aspect of "Please" also becomes the track’s stated mission. On his new Pure version, Solarstone initially opens the mix’s throttle wide, balancing the high-wire tension of its engaging sub-riffs with TNT drums and voracious bass. Momentarily tempering the tone, the drop opens the door to chiming iridescence, Med-inflected guitars and the tranquil pacific lucidity of its vocal message.

Mining a comparably rich pure trance seam come the steroid beats, sky-kissing riffs and all-round unchecked energy of Bryan Kearney’s remix firestarter. Post-break, the Irishman snares a furious acidic sequence into the mix, using pitching 303 loops, underpinned by primal 909-channeling kicks, to generate a floor thunderbolt.

Making sure no floor/time of the night goes untouched, Rich expands ‘Please’s original album vision into an 8-minute Extended Mix colossus. With its scene-stealing beat-free overture providing classic set-starting ignition, he masterfully rushes the atmosphere, providing the perfect Pure Mix alternative spin.

Beware of pale imitations… accept no substitute - "Please" is manna for trance purists worldwide.

Wess ft Jade Ross - Crashing Down

@BlackHoleRec - Black Hole 537-0

Wess presents his debut single "Crashing Down" on the Black Hole imprint, featuring the vocals of Jade Ross.

Wess, also known as Mihael Veselić, is a 21-year-old DJ/Producer. At age 13, Wess started experimenting with music when he got his first version of Fruity Loops. Music quickly took over his life and so far, Mihael has engineered an abundance of hard-hitting tracks, in addition to a plethora of bombs ready for release. Wess's debut record, entitled "Evolve", was released on Ministry of Sound TV, and has amassed over 85,000 views. He now teams up with the lovely Jade Ross who delivers the vocals for this splendid new single "Crashing Down".

Jade Ross, known from her cover of the Swedish House Mafia track "Don't You Worry Child" and her soon to be released collaboration with Marco V and Doctors in Florence titled "Limitless", simply describes herself as a singer/songwriter/rockstar and may well be on her way to make it big. Her vocals take "Crashing Down" to a new level.

"Crashing Down" features all the elements of modern day electro house, but expands to tech trance influences at the same time. The swirling synths that drive the entire track add extra energy to the fast BPM, serving as the perfect foundation for Jade's vocal workout. For the top names, "Crashing Down" will be the next big hit.

First State - Humanoid

@TiestoMagik / @BlackHoleRec - Magik Muzik 1039-0

First State presents his new single “Humanoid” on the Magik Muzik imprint.

"Humanoid" is the follow up to First State's well received singles "Holding On" (with Max C), "Why So Serious", as recorded with the young Boston native Jake Shanahan and his latest hit "Seeing Stars", which featured the lovely Sarah Howells. Once again First State shows with his new releas that his sound is steadily evolving into a new direction and after the progressive house mayhem of "Seeing Stars", it is with "Humanoid" that we get to enjoy yet another hit in the making. Still reaping high acclaim with his recently released double mix compilation “The Whole Nine Yards 2: Jakarta - Amsterdam”, First State is steadily pumping out amazing new tracks.

With a respectful reference to the synth based electronics of Daft Punk, "Humanoid" is a strong house / electro house gem that expands from First State's trademark sound, with subtle techtrance elements. The soaring arrangement of the track and the gyrating break make "Humanoid" a perfect smash that is set to dominate dance floors these coming months.

"Keep Real" ENCORE Official Music Video - EXIT VINE Extras

Red Bull have created their first original scripted YouTube series called "Exit Vine".  For this series, Red Bull has enlisted the UK YouTube sensation Mia Rose as one of the main characters.

Since 2007, Mia has set the bar high, as she served as a judge for the Portuguese version of "The Voice" (A Voz De Portugal) in 2011; in 2012 she opened for the James Morrison tour in Portugal and became the voice of "Audrey" for the Portuguese version of the hit movie Lorax; and in early 2013, Mia signed on with Red Bull for their fictional scripted YouTube series  "Exit Vine" in Los Angeles.

Playing the character "Encore" in "Exit Vine", Mia Rose shows off her singing skills with all original music made for the show.  Her character is a famed pop star that has unfortunately let fame and fortune mould her into a "self entitled brat" and feels threatened by any newcomer who might out shine her.

Check out the first four episodes of "Exit Vine" (here) and bonus clips of Mia Rose performing as her character Encore (here). Below is more information on "Exit Vine". Thanks and I look forward to speaking with you!

About Exit Vine
“Exit Vine” is the first scripted, interactive web series from Red Bull Media House, a global media company that delivered one of the first sports channels on YouTube. "Exit Vine" follows the journey of Natalie Lake, a singer/songwriter from the Midwest who moves to Los Angeles to start a band in pursuit of the "Hollywood Dream."The series features YouTube celebrities Mia Rose and HiimRawn (Makers Studio) and breakout star Hannah Mullholland.

What sets “Exit Vine” apart is the  series is  written in collaboration with the YouTube audience. After each episode, the audience will help the band make a pivotal decision by casting a vote in the comment box.   The next episode will be written based upon the most popular votes.  Since the series debut, viewers have helped determine the name of the band -"Ambicide,"  the new bass player - "Sinon,"  and the music video that marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band.
